The Baltimore City Department of Transportation is inviting interested residents of the Upton community to take part in a traffic calming work group.  This work group will help identify streets in your community that are most in need of traffic calming.  Upton residents who are interested in providing feedback and brainstorming ways to improve traffic conditions are encouraged to participate in our second meeting, which will be held virtually on Wednesday December 15, 2021 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

OBJECTIVES OF WORKGROUPS

To participate in a minimum of three workshops, each listening session will last approximately 1 hour.

To identify the streets most in need of traffic calming because of speeding vehicles, cut-through traffic or other problematic driver behavior.

To brainstorm traffic calming solutions along neighborhood streets including speed humps, one-way patterns or changes to traffic circulation, stop signs  and  safe crossing areas for pedestrians and cyclists.

This initiative represents a proactive approach to traffic calming on smaller neighborhood streets as opposed to the reactive 311 request-based system.  Residents with recommendations or complaints about speeding or cut-through traffic in their neighborhoods should consider participating in a traffic calming working group by contacting Linda Taylor-Newton via email at Linda.Taylor-Newton@baltimorecity.gov or by calling (443) 630-0703.
